About
Uganda is committed to implementing the 2030 Agenda, guided by the principle of "Leave No One Behind".
Background
In September 2015, Uganda joined 192 other United Nations Member States in adopting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals, with 169 targets and 231 unique indicators, set out a universal framework to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
Uganda integrated the SDGs into the Second and Third National Development Plans (NDP II and NDP III), ensuring alignment between global targets and national priorities including industrialisation, human capital development, and inclusive growth.
The Office of the Prime Minister was designated as the lead institution for SDG coordination, with the SDG Secretariat established in 2019 to provide dedicated technical support.
